Post 16, Careers and Work Experience
Year 11 Summer Provision
The expectation is that after our year 11 students leave UCC at the end of May they will engage with their respective Post-16 providers who have told us they will be sending year 11 to 12 transition work out shortly to all students.
However, there are a number of learning opportunities we would like to signpost our students to which we feel will help them to prepare for their education after UCC. These can be found below:
Resources from Post-16 Providers
Harington, Kings and Brooke Weston have shared an extensive bank of A-Level preparation resources with activities suitable for many of our students, even if they are not moving on to any of these schools. These can be accessed here:
Young Professional Programme: Preparing for your future
This is a great short course created by Youth Employment UK (YEUK) which students sign up for individually online using the above link. Students work through five units (each unit takes between approximately one to two hours) and they receive a certificate after completing each unit, perfect for adding to their CV. Students can do just one or all of the units.
The course units include:
- All about you
- You, your education and training
- You and your life skills
- Boosting your life and work experience
- Your career plans and goals
Unit 4 is particularly useful for developing students’ awareness of the workplace and different employment opportunities with a digital workbook to complete. Students could also supplement this by accessing their school start profile here. If they have forgotten their login details they can still access the site as a guest via the login / register page. Start has a wealth of resources and information about different employment sectors, career opportunities, pathways and qualifications to explore.
UCC Careers and Post-16 Website
Please encourage students to regularly access the Careers and Post-16 area of the UCC website where we will be posting updates about local vacancies, provider information, local and national events plus links to a wide range of information for both students and parents.
