Representations from Clay to silicon
Students are exposed to examples of written representations, some of which date back millennia. This highlights that using symbols to represent information (just like computers do) has been a universal human practice for centuries. Representations are thereby placed within a much broader (and more familiar) context, preparing learners for their encounter with binary representations in the context of computing.
