Remote Learning

At Uppingham Community College, we recognise that there may be times when a student is unable to attend school. We are committed to ensuring that, wherever possible, students can continue to access their learning and remain connected to their education during periods of absence.

Our Remote Learning provision provides students with access to work that has been carefully prepared by Heads of Department and subject teams across the academic year. The work is organised by subject, year group and then time of year, ensuring that students can access learning that is relevant to their current curriculum and stage of education.

Remote Learning may be particularly useful for students who are:

• Experiencing a prolonged period of absence from school.

• Serving a suspension and are unable to attend school.

• Unable to attend school due to severe weather or other circumstances affecting access to school.

• Temporarily unable to access their normal lessons.

The work provided is designed to help students maintain their learning, develop their knowledge and skills, and minimise the impact of absence on their education. Students should work through the resources provided for their year group and subjects, completing as much as they reasonably can during their period away from school.

We recognise that every student's circumstances are different. Remote Learning is therefore intended to support continuity of education while a student is unable to attend school, rather than replace the experience of being in the classroom.
