On The Spot...

The latest edition of 'On The Spot' - this time with Mrs Perkins...

This week Mrs Perkins who is our Head of Drama shares her answers to our 'on the spot' feature!

1. What's your perfect "day off"?
A lie in followed by a long country walk with my family minus the usual moaning about tired legs and hunger. I'd finish off with a nice meal in a country pub, ideally accompanied by a bit of live acoustic music.

2. Favourite ever box set?
West Wing - I've lost track of how many times I've watched it - my entire understanding of American politics is based on it and I regularly find myself asking 'What would Leo do?'

3. What song most reminds you of when you were at secondary school?
'Smells like teen spirit' by Nirvana - I made a music video to it for a GCSE Media Studies project; brings back very funny memories!

4. What is the best excuse you have heard from a student for not doing their homework ?
"I've done it, but my mum came into my bedroom and squirted me with a water pistol and the water got on my computer and it's been broken ever since." So far fetched, you'd never dream it up so it must be true!

5. What’s your favourite holiday destination?
Any Greek island - hidden coves with clear warm water, snorkelling to see the beautiful fishes and delicious food.

6. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, which 3 people would you invite over for dinner, and why?
Shakespeare - bit of a cliche for a Drama teacher but he's just such an extraordinary talent, I'd love to discover first hand what he was like as a person. Liz White - not the old one but the one from 'The Halcyon' and 'Life on Mars'; she's my favourite actor because she's so genuine in the roles she takes on. Craig Revel-Horwood - for his absolute honesty, he's by far the best judge on Strictly and I think he'd be a good laugh.

7. Favourite season and why?
Spring - not too hot, not too cold, lighter evenings, new life, flowers!!

8. What were you like at school?
Very quiet but with a cheeky streak. My friends would never have called me quiet but I wouldn't say boo to a goose in lessons. I worked fairly hard but, as you can imagine, school plays, dancing exams and the choirs I was in were my priority.

9. What's your favourite food?
EVERYTHING!! Don't make me choose, I love it all - I think food is probably my first love. It used to be the family joke when I was a child that I would remember every holiday or event based on what I'd eaten. But if really pushed, I'd probably say Thai food - aromatic, spicy, yum!

10. You’re marooned on a deserted island; which 3 items would you wish to have with you, and why?
My family - I'd be useless without company; my glasses - blind as a bat without them; gaffer tape - it's amazing the number of uses there are for that stuff!
