Ofsted Report - April 2023
Please see an update from Mr Solly below...
Dear UCC Families
I am delighted to share our recent Ofsted report with you. Please take the time to read through the report, which outlines that UCC remains a 'Good' school. The inspection was challenging and rigorous, but students and staff were magnificent across the 2 days.
The inspection was Quality Assured by the Ofsted Deputy Director of the East Midlands, who pointed out to us in the feedback meeting, that achieving 'Good' under the new framework is considerably more challenging than under the previous framework we experienced in 2017. This achievement recognises the progress the school has made in the past 5 years, and I believe the report is a fair and accurate reflection of where we are as a school.
The inspection identified a number of key strengths; our ambitious and well planned curriculum, high standards of teaching, excellent pastoral care, strong personal development and careers provision, and effective safeguarding. The report also recognised that our SEND provision is effective, and the lead inspector said to us that we are 'on the verge of something special' with our inclusive ethos.
We informed the inspection team that there are some areas within the school which we have prioritised for improvements, as the quality of provision is not always as high as we would like. The inspectors agreed with our judgements on this and therefore the 2 action points for us to focus on were already on our radar and part of our improvement priorities.
I am very pleased that the hard work and dedication of my colleagues at UCC has been recognised in such a positive Ofsted report. I really appreciate the support you have provided, not just recently, but over a sustained period of time. We will continue striving to always improve what we do at UCC, and I look forward to continue working in partnership with all of our UCC families.
Yours faithfully
Mr B Solly.
