Dear UCC Families
Over the past couple of weeks we have been talking to students about the launch of our new House system. One of the key aspects of us supporting young people to feel happy and safe at school is developing a genuine sense of belonging within the school community. We do this by knowing and valuing every student as an individual and celebrating everyone's unique characteristics. Our new Heads of House have delivered assemblies and each House has Year 11 House Captains. We are working with students to developing a set of values, a motto, a song and a charity to support for each House.
On Monday September 25th your child will be given an enamel House Badge during form time, as part of the re-launch of our House System. We hope this will, amongst other things, increase the sense of 'community within a community' for our students and increase positive competition and integration with students from other year groups. The House Badge is to be worn at all times on the left lapel of their and will be a standard expectation of the College uniform. If a student loses their House Badge, they should check at Student Services to see if one has been handed in. Students can also can buy a new one from student services for £2.00. New badges will only be given out at the start of each academic year to Year 7 and new staff.
Please take the time to read through the rest of the Newsletter so you are up-to-date with everything that has been going on at UCC this week.
Yours faithfully,
Mr B Solly
