Dear UCC families,
Today we reached the conclusion of the process for awarding GCSE qualifications. This has been termed 'Teacher Assessed Grades', or TAGs, this year, following the cancellation of exams for Year 11 students. I have been astounded by the work of my colleagues at UCC. They have been extremely thorough and professional throughout, working to ensure our young people receive the qualifications they deserve. As a school we have still been expected to pay the eye watering fees to the exam boards, but it is our teachers who have done all of the work; setting assessments, standardising marking processes, marking the papers, moderating the marking and then making assessment decisions on grades. The additional work this has required has been monumental, but our team have rolled their sleeves up and completed it with such admirable integrity. I look forward to seeing our Year 11 students on the results day in August.
I have continued to visit our feeder primary schools throughout this week, and the students who have accompanied me have continued to be incredible role models and ambassadors for our school. My 'shout out' this week is to give huge thanks to Finn, Ivo, Hattie, Jack, Freya and Lois - you were all superb!
My only other message this week is to ask you to keep encouraging your children to take the twice weekly Lateral Flow Tests. This is an important part of us protecting the school community and we really appreciate your continued support.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
