Parent Bulletin 04/03/22

Please see the latest bulletin from Mr Solly below:

Dear UCC Families

Throughout the Spring Term we have spent each week focussing on a different department for their Self Review process, which involves lesson observations, along with analysis of student work and the content, sequencing and resourcing of each subject's curriculum. A consistent theme we observe is students working hard and showing real commitment to their learning in lessons. Next week we are hosting the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher from Mapelwell Hall School in Leicestershire, who are visiting us as part of our Special Education Needs department review and I look forward to updating you about the outcome.

On Monday, Mrs Duffy hosted an assembly for Year 11 students on the Study Programme and how students should be preparing themselves for the summer exams. The after school sessions that are currently taking place have been very successful and I have observed Year 11 working extremely well in many lessons this week. If you need any information about how to support your child with revision, please visit this section of our website: https://www.uppinghamcollege.org.uk/page/?title=Revision&pid=105

The current situation with the war in Ukraine is distressing for everyone, and in particular, young people will have many questions about it. We subscribe to a website called The Day, which has topical content that is updated on a daily basis. It is a great source of information and if your child has questions about this war, or would like to develop their understanding, this is a good place to direct them to: https://theday.co.uk/

Please take the time to read through the rest of the Newsletter this week as there are lots of positive updates from so many areas of our school.  However, I would particularly draw your attention to some important information about a new form of illegal drug called 'Edibles'; I feel it is vital that all parents are aware of this and recommend you talk to your child about it. (Please see the document attached at the bottom of this page)

Have a great weekend, take care
Mr B Solly.
