ACE Day

Please read a round-up of our highly successful 1st ACE day...

Tuesday 2 October saw the first of our new ACE days (Additional Curriculum Experience) with lots of exciting opportunites for our students:

Year 7 - The Art of Brilliance
The Art of Brilliance believes that "only about 2% of people fall into the category of feeling consistently great". Y7 will learn about how to stay happy and be positive and how to be one of those 2%ers!

Year 8 - The Real Game
Y8 students were asked to think about their dream lives; what jobs they wanted, accommodation to live in, means of transport and other luxury items! Once reality was introduced, students were each given a unique job role to research and share with the class. They were tasked with re-evaluating their initial dream, budgeting within the means of their assigned job role, planning their time and investigating alternative job roles that may appeal to them. Throughout the day, they considered the grades, experience and transferable skills they would need to develop to ensure their dream life. For most, it was a great reality check into exactly how hard they will need to work to ensure this!

Year 9 - Enterprise Day
We have the next generation of entrepreneurs here at #TeamUCC. Y9 spent the morning creating and designing their business models in advance of the trade show held in the afternoon. We had 40 local business people attend the trade show and help with judging!

Year 10 - University Visits
Y10 spent their ACE day visiting local universities. The aim was to give students a taste for university, to inspire them and hopefully give them some food for thought about their life beyond UCC. Students visited either Loughborough, De Montfort, Coventry or Lincoln.

Year 11 - Post 16
ACE day for Y11 was focussed on their education after UCC. They spent the day looking at application forms, interview practice, their own individual action plan and post 16 options. The day was finished off with an afternoon of external volunteers who ran mock interviews for the students. Many thanks to students and our volunteers for making this such a worthwhile and important day. #TeamUCC
