Behaviour Points

The College may use one or more of the following consequences in response to unacceptable behaviour: 

•A verbal redirection or warning towards the UCC Expectations
•Issuing of a Consequence: C1, 2, 3 as appropriate. 
•Sending the student out of the class if their behaviour is preventing others from learning (C2)  - lesson remove
•Removal from certain lessons on their timetable 
•Break or lunch time supervision away from the student population  (sinbin)
•Detention at break or lunchtime, or after school 
•Referring the student to a senior member of staff 
•Letters or phone calls home to parents / carers
•Putting a student ‘on report’  to tutor, PL, PDC or SLT
•Agreeing a Behaviour Agreement
•Agreeing a Behaviour Contract

Left lesson to go to toilet

Teachers record this if a student goes to the toilet during a lesson. It is does not carry any behaviour points. It is monitored by the Pastoral Team.

Uniform

Issued by any member of staff if uniform does not meet expectations.

Equipment

Issued by a teacher or TA if student does not have expected equipment

Inadequate Work

Issued by a teacher or TA if student does not complete an adequate amount of work in the lesson. The expectation will vary according to the ability of the student.

Homework S1

Issued by a teacher or TA if student does not meet a homework deadline. (S1 stands for ‘Strike 1’ and means first missed deadline for this subject)

Issued by a teacher or TA if student does not meet a homework deadline. (S2 stands for ‘Strike 2’ and means second missed deadline for this subject)

Late to lesson

Issued by a teacher if a students is not present in the room at the expected lesson start time.

Missed deadline

Issued by a teacher if a students ha not handed in work by a specific deadline for example DT or PE coursework.

Inappropriate Behaviour

Issued by any member of staff when a student is involved in minor inappropriate behaviour eg. queue jumping, damage to own property, playing games on computer,  spraying water onto another student

Chewing Gum

Issued by any member of staff if a students is caught chewing gum anywhere on site at any time.

Breaktime incident

Issued by any member of staff for a reasonably serious behaviour incident eg. damage to other students’ property, minor vandalism, throwing items at another student

Lunchtime incident

Issued by any member of staff for a reasonably serious behaviour incident eg. damage to other students property, minor vandalism, throwing items at another student

Disruption to online learning

Issued by a teacher when a student disrupts an online lesson eg. by making inappropriate comments in the chat

Missing Uniform Card

Students are expected to have their uniform cad with them at all times. If they have forgotten it they should ask tutor for a temporary one.  If they have lost it they should ask their tutor for a replacement.

Removed from lesson

Issued by a teacher if a student continues to disrupt the lesson or learning of others having been given a clear warning. The student will complete the work from the lesson in the Study Room for the remainder of the lesson. Students who are removed from more than one lesson will work in the Study Room for an escalating amount of time and lose social time. Students will receive an After School Detention for repeated lesson removals.

Use of mobile phone

Issued by any member of staff if a student uses their phone without staff permission. An escalating series of sanctions is in place for repeated events.

Severe Behaviour Incident

Parents/Carers will always be contacted to explain the details of a serious incident at the earliest opportunity by a member of our Pastoral Team or SLT.
