The Great UCC Shave!

On November 17th an excitable crowd gathered in the UCC Drama studio to watch as Herbie waved goodbye to his long flowing locks. Why you may ask? To benefit children across the UK. BBC Children in Need helps children to live the lives that they deserve, and by supporting this hair-raising event UCC raised over £400 for this great cause.

The tension mounted as Mr Snip raised his razor. Counting down from 10 to 0 and the moment that the razor kissed his head. The crowd roared their approval as snippets of Herbie’s hair floated to ground. Then a brief moment of silent anticipation before rapturous applause echoed around the room. A smiling but significantly less hairy Herbie grinned at his supportive class mates from the barber’s stool. Mrs Rodgers (the charity coordinator) picked her way through a forest of legs and proudly shook his hand. Their smiles were infectious as soon enough the whole crowd was uncontrollably grinning.

Congratulations to our UCC hero, who baldly and bravely sacrificed his hair to this worthy cause.

We hope he has a nice warm hat!
