Friday 24th March 2017

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Comic Relief Day –  this seems to come round more quickly every year .. and every year I am amazed at the generosity of students and their willingness to think of others. The students have already raised over £3000 for charity this academic year so that total is bound to rise even further after today. Highlights include the usual cake sales, girls v boys netball and Rory is having his head shaved [ but not too close – he still has to come to school on Monday looking respectable!] Photos to follow.

Many congratulations to our girls U13 & U15 Rugby teams as they are the first UCC girl teams who have made it into the RFU's County tournament and will now progress to the Regional/Area finals next week. The very best of luck to them.

The UCC Maths Team competed at Kings School Peterborough this week in the UK Maths Team Challenge and an extremely impressive result was achieved.  Well done to Jasper Flinn, William Pinkerton, Lewis Darlington and Isaac Kay who formed the top performing state school in the competition.

Year 7 will be off of timetable for the morning on Thursday 30th March for a screening of The Tempest, streamed directed from the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon.The play will be followed up in English lessons after Easter as students begin their study of Shakespeare.

Next Friday is Wear a Hat Day this is in aid of the Brain Tumour Research Charity which we support in aid of a colleague. As we have just had a big fundraising day today we don’t expect students to bring in a donation unless they would like to – just be creative with a hat!

Yours sincerely
Jan Turner
Principal

PS At the time of sending this E-mail we have already reached over £1,000 for Comic Relief and we are still counting......
