Friday 30th September 2016

Dear Parents & Guardians,

During the week of the 31st October the college will be screening a presentation of a film 'Kayleigh's Love Story' followed by a Q/A session with specially trained external staff. This is a short but hard hitting dramatisation of the online grooming and subsequent death of Kayleigh Haywood from North Leicestershire and is being rolled out to all schools across the Leicestershire and Rutland areas. It will be available for parents to come and watch in the evening before being shown to all students at some point during that week. The parental viewing is to allow parents the opportunity to opt their child out of the screening if they wish. I will send details nearer the time and you will be given the opportunity to opt your child out even if you are not able to attend the preview. There is a preview available on the Leicestershire Police website https://leics.police.uk/categories/kayleighs-love-story. I have seen the film myself and although it is hard hitting it does communicate a very important message that all our young people should be aware of.

NHS England has commissioned Leicestershire Partnership Trust (LPT) to deliver routine childhood immunisations to all children who attend a Leicestershire or Rutland school and reside in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland. Students in Year 9 are being offered the Teenage Booster and Meningitis ACWY vaccine - to do this they need to have the date of birth and address of each student in Year 9,  to ensure all students are offered the immunisation. This information is confidential and held only by the LPT. If you DO NOT wish me to release your child’s address to the  LPT please could you let me know by Friday, 7 October?  If you would like further information on the Immunisation programme please go to the following website: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations or  telephone: 0300 3000 007.'

Regards,

Jan Turner
