Dear Parents & Guardians

I hope that you all had a relaxing and enjoyable summer holiday and it has been lovely to see all our students back this week - including our bright and shiny new Year 7 students. They have settled in very quickly and calmly, although they have some excitement today as they are being visited by Jasmine Elcock [Britain's Got talent] and Lyrikal [The Voice] who will perform a fantastic lunchtime session for them in the Drama Studio. It might be a challenge to follow that every week!

I am delighted to tell you that the students have just achieved the best set of results in their GCSEs as far as progress is concerned that the college has seen - that means that they were significantly higher than the national average in many areas - including English and Maths! So very well done to all of them - no pressure Year 11!

Please could I ask that you double check over the weekend that all uniform and equipment, including bags, are named? With 900 students on site trying to locate a missing blazer with no name is not the easiest of tasks. In addition please could you ensure your child is in appropriate school shoes.

I have also been asked to inform all local residents that Knoll Lane, the lane sometimes used by students from UCC and Uppingham School as a short cut into town, is now a private road and not a public right of way so using that lane could be construed as trespass. I have told all the students but I would be grateful if you could emphasise this.

I look forward to a very successful and productive term.
