Dear Parents & Guardians,

I am delighted to tell you that Uppingham Community College and Uppingham Church of England Primary School are currently exploring the possibilities of creating a multi-academy trust. This would have many positive benefits for the students at both schools, whilst still retaining the ethos and autonomy of both schools. UCC is already an academy and Uppingham CofE would become an academy as part of the process. This is still in its very early stages and we will, of course, be involving everyone in full consultation should we decide that this is a journey that both schools wish to take.

Mrs Thomas and I were honoured to visit Buckingham Palace on Monday this week to receive an award on behalf of the college, presented by HRH Prince Edward and the England rugby star James Haskell. The ward was recognition of the college’s commitment to the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme as UCC is a licensed organisation. We have a very exciting programme which owes its success to the tireless work of our in school staff and the many volunteers who help with projects and expeditions. If you would like to help out in any way, please contact Mrs Thomas who would be only too pleased to outline some of the opportunities available. You could even consider doing the Diamond Challenge yourself!
