Principal's Weekly Bulletin

Dear parents and carers

I would like to start my bulletin this week with a huge thank you to the PE students who supported our teacher recruitment processes yesterday. We interviewed a very strong field of PE teacher candidates and a number of our students participated in lessons throughout the day. All candidates commented on how brilliant our students were and how they were a pleasure to teach. We also used some students to provide a tour of the school and another group formed a student panel. In particular, our tour guides and student panel were truly superb, representing UCC magnificently. It is always lovely to hear from guests, visitors and candidates about how impressive UCC students are; we see this in school on a day to day basis, but we take great pride in it being so noticeable to the people visiting us.

We hosted an interactive music technology workshop on Wednesday where two external DJs came in to work with our Year 9 and 10 musicians. Our students loved working with these inspirational guests and this was a wonderful opportunity to experience a very modern and interactive approach to producing music.

Our Year 11 students have continued with their excellent approach towards their examinations. This week they have been joined by Year 10 who have started their mock examinations. Year 10 have been equally impressive and have made a very good start, learning the processes and expectations that go hand in hand with exam conditions. I would like to wish all our students the very best of luck; I know you will all do your best.

A date for your diaries is our annual Design & Technology and Art Exhibition on Wednesday 20 June from 15:30-19:30. The standard of work that students produce is astonishing and it would be great for as many visitors as possible to come and enjoy viewing this wonderful showcase event. The flyer can be accessed on our website:

Please note KS3 reports will be emailed home on the following dates:

Yrs 8 & 9 on 27 June and Yr 7 on 4 July.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Mr Solly.
