Principal's Weekly Bulletin

I would like to congratulate the students that participated in the cricket leadership opportunity in Uppingham and Rugby at Leicester Tigers this week. We also took a group of 35 Computer Science students to Bletchley Park on Tuesday for a code breaking experience which was thoroughly enjoyed by students and staff alike. The reports we received from all 3 events were incredibly positive about how they represented the school. It is the county athletics championships at Saffron Lane in Leicester tomorrow and 11 UCC students have qualified through the area event earlier this term. I would like to wish all of the students involved the very best of luck and thank you in advance for representing UCC.

Unfortunately, Mrs Thomas will be unable to continue leading the Duke of Edinburgh award at UCC following her significant commitments and achievements in this area over a long period of time. She has committed to ensuring all the students currently enrolled have the opportunity to complete the awards they are taking and she is publishing details of these arrangements on our website. As yet, we have been unable to find a replacement for the DofE Manager’s role at UCC so we are not accepting any further enrolments. We will continue to seek a solution to this and in the meantime we will direct anyone interested towards other local provision for DofE. I’d like to thank Mrs Thomas for her dedication to this award and for providing so many students with wonderful opportunities over the years.

Finally, I am seeking some support from our parent community for some work we want to complete in school. I would like to refresh our website and marketing materials with some more up to date photos of our current students. In my previous schools I have achieved this by working with parents and local members of the community who have photography businesses or a keen interest in photography. I would also like to give some UCC students who are interested in photography the opportunity to shadow a professional over the course of a day where we capture some images of our students and our school that represent who we are and what we are trying to achieve. This can be a costly exercise and I want to ensure any school budget we spend is focussed on enhancing educational provision. Therefore, I am looking for someone to come forward and support us on a voluntary basis and share their expertise with us. If you are interested please get in contact with Laura St John on 01572 823631.

I hope you have a good weekend.
Mr Solly.
