Principal's Weekly Bulletin

Dear parents and carers

It has been a great first week back at school following the Easter break. The warmer weather has meant we have been able to open the school field and students have been enjoying the opportunity to relax at lunch time with their friends and enjoy the sunshine.

During the summer term there will be times when the weather is exceptionally hot and when this happens we will take a sensible approach with our expectations of uniform. This week we have delivered the following message to students regarding our expectations:

  • Blazers can be removed at teacher discretion in the classroom if students feel too warm
  • At break and lunch, blazers are expected to be with students at all times.  If students are outside in the hot weather and choose to remove their blazer then they must keep it with them

Next week we have lots going on with  GCSE PE exam moderation on Tuesday, the Junior Maths Challenge for 30 Year 7/8 students on Thursday and on the same day Year 9 are watching a live broadcast of Macbeth, before we then host Year 8 parents’ evening.

Students and staff have made a fantastic fundraising effort during last term and these are the amounts raised so far:

Sport Relief - total £1,617.36 (there is still some sponsorship money to come in)
Wear a Hat (Brain tumour research) - total £558.22
Chocolate/Cake Raffle (Breast Cancer Now) - total £307.41

I hope you all have a good weekend.

Mr Solly.
