Vet Inspires Students

On Monday the 22nd of January the Cookie Club was packed out with over 50 students from all years who had come to listen to Chris Booth, a vet from Oakham Practice. Chris, whose specialism lies in heart disease amongst dogs, had already visited the school recently as part of a careers event for Year 9 and it was great to have him return to share his insights into veterinary science. He accompanied his talk with a host of video clips showing operations on cats and dogs whilst giving insights about the daily life of a vet in a busy and varied practice.

The students were possibly even more enthralled by his dog Teddy who spent his time walking around the class. Students had time to ask Chris questions about how to get into veterinary medicine or about medical conditions that their animals had experienced.
