National Year 7 Cross Country

On  Saturday 25th March twelve students from Uppingham Community College represented Rutland at the National Cross Country Championships.
The event was held at Prestwold Hall near Loughborough on what turned out to be a warm sunny spring day.
The students who had been training over the last month were part of an event that had teams competing from as far away as Northumberland and Yorkshire in a field of over 150 runners for each race.
The course offered a challenging cross country  route of fields, farm tracks and some deceptively tough hills.
This was the first time Rutland had entered the event as an individual County so congratulations to Layton Thomas, Max Ranson, James Garner, Noah Smith, William Lewin, Rebecca Cullen, Freya Banerjee, Imogen Peace, Aimee Berry, Ruby Oliver, Anna Hill and Cora Coyle for being part of this historic team.
Thank you also to local companies Cabeluk and the Rutland Dairy who sponsored the teams and supplied brand new running vests for the occasion.
Here is a snap of the team...
