Clubs Update

Lunchtime Clubs

Next week our new Lunchtime Clubs will be starting.  Due to the incredible amount of interest in these Clubs we are having to split many of the groups.  This means students who are not allocated a place in Autumn Term 1 will automatically have a place in Autumn Term 2 for their chosen activity.

After School Clubs

Next week most of our After School Clubs will begin.  Currently we still have spaces available on the following Clubs

  • Sailing / Windsurfing Club
  • Karate Club
  • Culinary Delights
  • Rugby Practice (Years 9,10,11)
  • Squash Club
  • Boot Camp
  • Dance Crew
  • Animation & Illustration Club
  • Fencing Club
  • Swimming Club
  • Tennis Club

To pay for any of these clubs on Wisepay, please visit: www.uppinghamcollege.org.uk

Duke of Edinburgh Update

We have signed up to be able to enable students to begin the Award at the start of Year 9 before their 14 birthday.

The DofE in September is to launch a pilot project with the permission of the International Award of allowing a whole year group to enrol in September, therefore removing any barriers for those with July and August Birthdays.  Centres wishing to take on the pilot will be able to enrol all students in September 2015 who are in year 9, provided that they turn 14 in that academic year. Students doing this will be able to complete once they have completed their minimum activity periods, rather than continuing until they are 14 and a half, although of course many will be.  This will allow all students to complete by the end of the academic year.

If any year 9 students would like to sign up to DofE and take advantage of the changes to the age limits please contact Mrs Thomas at  Thomas_D@ucc.rutland.sch.uk
